Deputy Sheriff Justin Mowery Car Accident Friendsville, TN Death: Thank You for Your Service: Deputy Justin Mowery, Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Dies in Line-of-Duty Crash

The law enforcement community continues to honor the memory of Deputy Sheriff Justin Mowery, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty following a single-vehicle crash while serving and protecting his community.

The fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Miser Station Road and Vinegar Valley Road at approximately 5:12 p.m. Deputy Mowery was actively pursuing the operator of a stolen motorcycle who had refused to stop for law enforcement. During the pursuit, Deputy Mowery’s patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Despite emergency response efforts, he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

Following the incident, the motorcycle driver fled the scene. Authorities later identified and arrested the suspect, a convicted felon, who faced multiple charges. He ultimately pleaded guilty to evading arrest resulting in the death of a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, simple possession of methamphetamine, and driving on a suspended license. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Deputy Mowery served with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office for five years, dedicating himself to public safety and the protection of others. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of fellow deputies, community members, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His commitment to duty, courage under pressure, and willingness to place himself in harm’s way for the safety of others exemplified the highest ideals of law enforcement service.

Beyond the badge, Justin was a beloved son, brother, and family member whose loss continues to be deeply felt by those closest to him. He is survived by his mother, brother, and uncles, who cherish the memories of his life, character, and devotion to family.

Deputy Justin Mowery’s sacrifice will never be forgotten. His legacy of service, courage, and dedication remains an enduring reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face each day in the line of duty. May his memory continue to inspire, and may he rest in peace.
